Every Rock Climbing Gym in Ontario (2026 Complete List)

Ontario has 50 indoor climbing gyms spread across 20 regions. This is the complete list as of 2026.

Toronto (13 Gyms)

The city has the highest density of climbing gyms in the province. Basecamp Climbing operates two locations: Queen West (bouldering-only in a converted cinema) and Bloor West (the roped counterpart with top-rope, lead, and auto-belays). Boulderz Climbing runs three locations, with the Etobicoke "Big Gym" being one of the GTA's largest at 28,000 sq ft.

Joe Rockhead's in Liberty Village is Canada's first indoor climbing gym, now under Up The Bloc ownership. Rock Oasis on Carlaw offers top-rope, lead, 120+ bouldering problems, and a Kilter Board. Toronto Climbing Academy in East York has operated since 1993 with 110+ routes. True North Climbing in the Downsview Hangar features a massive suspended stalactite wall.

Newer additions include Ethos Climbing on the waterfront (opened May 2025), Hogtown Boulders in Don Mills with training boards for every skill level, Kong Climbing in North York with 20+ auto-belay routes, Boulder Parc in Scarborough, and Rock On Climbing in the Canary District with 24-hour member access.

Peel Region (4 Gyms)

Hub Climbing Mississauga markets itself as Canada's largest climbing park at 40,000 sq ft with 49 ft lead walls. Boulderz The Cave in Mississauga specializes in overhung cave-style bouldering. Up The Bloc in Mississauga has World Cup-quality bouldering circuits. Toprock Climbing in Brampton is the city's first climbing gym with bouldering and auto-belays.

York Region (3 Gyms)

Steel Peak Climbing & Ninja in Vaughan combines bouldering, auto-belays, and a full ninja warrior course. RockHaus Climbing in Vaughan is a boutique bouldering gym near the VMC subway. Hub Climbing Markham has a 23 ft free-standing boulder over a foam pit.

Durham Region (3 Gyms)

Rock Oasis Ajax is Durham's original gym inside the Ajax Community Centre. Aspire Climbing Whitby offers lead, top-rope, bouldering, and a ninja course. Pinnacle Indoor Climbing in Bowmanville has 40 ft walls and one of Ontario's two certified speed walls.

Halton Region (2 Gyms)

Climber's Rock in Burlington is one of Canada's largest gyms with 60 ft walls. Aspire Climbing Milton relocated in Dec 2025 as "Aspire 2.0," now bouldering-only with sculpted terrain.

Ottawa/Gatineau (6 Gyms)

The capital region has the second-highest concentration after Toronto. Altitude Gym runs three locations: Gatineau (the flagship with 45 ft rope walls), Kanata (40,000 sq ft, bouldering and auto-belays), and Orleans (bouldering-only). Coyote Rock Gym is Ottawa's first climbing gym (est. 1992). Klimat 2.0 opened in 2024 with modern bouldering and a vegetarian cafe. Bloc 9.81 in Gatineau rotates problems three times per week.

Waterloo/Kitchener (3 Gyms)

Grand River Rocks Kitchener relocated to a larger facility in June 2024 with rope, lead, and 32 auto-belays. Grand River Rocks Waterloo is a bouldering-only sister gym. The Core Climbing in Cambridge has Walltopia walls inspired by IFSC World Cup competition.

The Rest of Ontario

Two gyms each in London (Junction Climbing Centre and J2 Bouldering), Kingston (Boiler Room and Kingston Bouldering Cooperative), and Newmarket (Of Rock and Chalk and Reach Indoor Climbing). Single gyms operate in Hamilton (Gravity, with Ontario's tallest walls at 50 ft), Niagara Falls (Gravity Niagara in St. Catharines), Barrie (Alt Rock), Collingwood (Climbers Corner at $15 day pass), Owen Sound (The Climber's Crush), Belleville (Boiler Room satellite), Peterborough (Rock and Rope), Brantford (Conquer Climbing Centre), Guelph (The Guelph Grotto, operating since 1994), and Bracebridge (Climb Muskoka).
